Color changes are not indicated in pattern below but you can vary colors as desired.
START
Wind yarn around your pinky finger (to make smaller ring) about 6-8 times. Carefully slip off finger and put hook through center, then start to work stitches.
ROW 1
Make 15 sc in ring, join with slip stitch. (15 sc).
ROW 2 (OPTIONAL additional row to make center larger)
Work 1 sc into each st (make these looser so they go around ring without curling it in). (15 sc)
NOTE: Make sure you have 15 stitches here -- you'll be making 5 petals starting with 3 st each so you must have right stitch count here.
ROW 3 (1st PETAL)
Ch 1 (to bring up yarn) and work 1 sc in same spot. Then work sc in next 2 stitches. (3 sc). Ch 1 and turn.
ROW 4 (1st PETAL)
2 sc into each sc (6 sc). Ch 1 and turn.
ROW 5 (1st PETAL)
Into 1 st away from hook (you'll be working in the 5 stitches across), work *1sc, hdc, 2 dc, sc. Ch 3 and join with sl st in base of stitch. This will finish your petal.
REST OF PETAL ROWS
Repeat Rows 3-5 four more times to make 5 petals total.
1st EDGING ROW
You'll be making a first row of sc edging around petals. Make 1 sc across the center 5 stitches in the petal (you'll be skipping stitches at the base of the petal). Then in the ch3 space you made in Row 5, make 2 sc. At the base of the petal, work an extended dc (with loose first loop to make it longer) down to the base of the center (this will make a decorative stitch).
Continue making these stitches around for each petal. Make sure to work stitches only in the top 5 stitches and in the ch3, then make your extended dc to the center. This should make a nice edging that lays flat around the petals (if you make too many sc stitches it will start to buckle).
2nd EDGING ROW
Work dc stitches into the scs from 1st edging, alternating 1 dc, 2 dcs together into each sc AND skipping 1-2 stitches at the base of each petal. This will make the dc edging lay flat around the petal - adjust more/fewer dc stitches as needed to make the edging lay flat.
Fasten off.
