085-C Easy Openwork Flower

Updated: Jul 5, 2022

  • This pattern works up quickly as it has two rows of openwork.

  • The flower looks better than in the photo below -- I did not stretch/block the flower as I should have before taking the picture! But it's a very good and quick pattern that is worth a try.

NOTES:

  • Color changes are not indicated in pattern, but work Rows 3-4 (the openwork rows) in the same color.

PATTERN

Use this published pattern from Da's Crochet Connection - but we'll only work Rounds 1-6 and then do a simple edging

http://dascrochetconnection.blogspot.com/p/colorful-flower-maalas.html

Wrap your starting yarn loosely around your index finger around about 8 times. Slip off your finger trying to keep the center open, put your hook through and pull through yarn to start working stitches. This ring will have a fairly large hole in the center- do NOT pull tight.

ROWS 1-7

Work these rows as indicated in the pattern.

Use the same color for the two openwork rows 3 and 4.

ROW 8 (EDGING)

Work a simple sc edging, but adjust stitches a bit so they're not too tight or loose.

At the base of each petal, skip 1 or 2 stitches to avoid bulk, and you can do a front post sc where the other front post stitch was below.

You may have to play around with this edging to make it lay flat.
