029-C Intermediate Popcorn Flower

START

Wrap yarn 6-8 times around index finger. Carefully slip off finger, put hook through middle and start to work stitches.

ROW 1 (BASE)

Ch 1, 12 sc in ring. Join with sl st on 1st chain. (12 sc). Join. Do not break off yarn (Rows 1 and 2 in same color).

ROW 2 (BASE)

Ch 3 (serves as 1 trc), work 2 tr together (serves as your 1st 3tr cluster). Ch 6. *Skip 1 stitch and work 3 tr together cluster, ch 6**. Continue around to make 6 petals. Join. Change color.

ROW 3 (INNER PETALS)

Slip into ch6 space. Work 9 sc in space. *Move to next ch6 space, work 9 sc**. Continue around. Join. Change color.

ROW 4 (POPCORNS)

You'll be making another row of sc crochet stitches but adding a popcorn at the tips of the petals. Find the center 7 sc in the 9 sc cluster and work sc in these stitches BUT make 2 sc in the one at the top. So you'll be working 8 sc here.

Then skip over to the stitch at the top of the petal and work a 5 dc popcorn.

Continue working the scs and popcorn stitches around. Join. Change color.

ROW 5 (OUTER PETALS)

*In the top of the popcorn stitch, work 5 tr, ch 1, 5 tr. Ch 1, then skip to the stitch at the top of the 9 sc cluster and work 1 sc, ch 1**. Continue around * to ** making 6 outer petals. Join.


Fasten off.
