SPECIAL STITCHES

Small Puff Stitch (PS): YO and insert hook in indicated stitch and pull up a loop to the height of a hdc, yo and insert hook back in same st and pull up a loop, yo and pull through all 5 loops.

Picot: Ch 3, sl st into 3rd ch from hook

Spike Stitch: Insert hook below into sc from prior round, YO, draw up a loop to the same height as working row, YO and pull through both loops.

START

Ch 3, join with sl st to form ring.

ROW 1

11 dc into ring. Join with sl st to beg ch.

ROW 2

In any st, work Small Puff Stitch (PS), ch1, *1 PS, ch1** in each stitch around. Join with sl st in first ch-1.

ROW 3

In any ch1 space, ch 1, 2sc in same space, 1 sc in next st. Repeat *2 sc in ch1 space, 1 sc** around. Join with sl st.

ROW 4 (STAR POINTS)

In any stitch, ch 1, 1 sc in same st, 1 hdc in next st, (2 dc, ch2, 2dc) in next st, 1 hdc in next st, *sc in next st, 1 hdc in next st, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next st, 1 hdc in next st**. Repeat around. Fasten off. (6 star points).

ROW 5 (EDGING)

In any ch-2 space, ch 1 *(1sc, picot, 1 sc) in ch-2 space, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 1 spike stitch into next st, 1 sc into each of next 3 sts**. Repeat * to ** 5 more times. Join.

NOTE: If edging is too full and starts to buckle, you make 2 sc along edge of each star point instead of 3 sc.

Fasten off.
