  • Not easy to make color changes so best to use solid or variegated yarn and use contrast color for edging


START

Ch 6, join with slst on the first ch to form a base ring.

ROW 1 (BASE)

Ch 3 (count as 1 dc), work 15 dc into chain loop. Join with sl st on 3rd chain. (16 st)

ROW 2 (BASE)

Ch 3 (count as 1 dc), 1 dcs in next stitch, skip 1 stitch. *2 dcs in next stitch, skip 1 stitch** Repeat * to ** around; join with slip stitch to top of ch 3. (24 st).

ROW 3 (PETAL ROW 1)

Ch 3 (count as 1 dc) 1ch, {skip 1st then work *1dc, 1ch, 1dc into the next st* ,1ch} rep between {to }11 times , dc into the top of 3ch of r3 , 1ch, sl st into the top of 3ch of the same round (48 st)

ROW 4 (PETAL ROW 2)

Work sl st in to the next 2 stitches then 3ch ,dc, 1ch, 2dc into 1st 1ch space of r4. now work {1ch* into next 1ch sp work 2dc,1ch, 2dc*} rep between {to} 10 times, then work 1ch, sl st into the top of 3ch of same round (72 st)

R0W 5 (PETAL ROW 3)

Work sl st in to next 2 st, 3ch, 2dc,1ch, 3dc, 1ch. now work {1ch * into next 1ch sp work 3dc,1ch, 3dc* } rep between {to} 10 times, then work 1ch, sl st into the top of 3ch of same round (96 st)

EDGING

Work sc around petal edges, at bottom of petal skip 1 stitch and at top of petal work 2 scs. This will give you a smooth edge without puckering.


To fully outline petals, it's easier to make the stitches with a yarn needle rather than the crochet hook. Just make chain stitches with your needle and outline the petals.
