008-C Easy Large Sunflower with Puff center

  • This design has you make many separate petals you have to sew on. An easier alternative is to you use petal pattern in 020-C Easy Large Sunflower.

SPECIAL STITCHES

Puff Stitch (PS): [Yarn over, insert hook into specified stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop] Repeat 3 times. You should have 7 loops on the hook. Yarn over, and pull through all 7 loops. Ch 1 to close the Puff Stitch.


START

Ch 2, 6 sc into first ch. Sl st to join to first sc.

ROW 1

Puff stitch (PS) in each st around (6 puffs)

ROW 2

2 PS in each ch space around (12 puffs)

ROW 3

[2 PS in next ch space, PS in next ch space] around (18 puffs)

ROW 4

With different color, PS in each ch space around (18 puffs)

ROW 5

2 sc in each ch space around (36 sc)

Sl st to fasten off.

PETALS - ROW 1

You'll be making about 20 separate petals that you'll finish off and sew to the center. Leave a long starting tail on the last row of your petal that you can use when sewing on.


Ch 9, sc in each ch across. On other side of chain, sc in each ch across. (16 sc)

PETALS - ROW 2

Sc in next 3 st, hdc in next 3 st, sc in next 2 st, ch 2, sl st in previous ch, sc in next 7 st, sl st in next st.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail.


ASSEMBLY

Finish off the tip ends of your petals, and use the long tail to sew petal onto the center. YOU CAN LEAVE the tail ends on the back - you don't have to trim - because the back won't show.
