067-K Easy Multi Petal Flower

Updated: Jul 5, 2022

  • You can make with 6 petals instead of 5 to make it a bit fuller.

  • Works best in single color, multi-strand, or variegated yarn.

  • Make some sort of decorative center or add button in middle.

START

Leaving a very long tail (which you'll leave later for sewing), cast on 8 stitches for every petal (for 5 petals, cast on 40 st; for 6 petals, cast on 48)

ROW 1

Knit across all stitches.

ROW 2

Purl across all stitches.

You'll now knit each petal separately, one at a time. They will be connected, and when done you'll gather them at the center and sew them securely.

ROW 3

Knit 2, knit front and back into next 5 stitches, knit 1. (13 st).

ROW 4

Purl back across the 13 stitches.

ROW 5-14

Knit 10 rows of stockinette stitch (knit 1 row, purl 1 row)

ROW 15

Knit 2 together twice, knit to last 4 stitches, knit 2 together twice.

ROW 16

Purl across all stitches.

ROW 17

Knit 2 together once, knit to last 2 stitches, knit 2 together.

ROW 18

Purl across all stitches

REST OF ROWS

Repeat Rows 17 and 18, ending with 2 stitches remaining which you will knit together.

Pull yarn through at tip of petal and cut off. That completes one petal

FOR REMAINING PETALS

Continue across next 8 stitches for next petal. Repeat starting at Row 3.

FINISHING

Sew in all the loose threads on the petals.

Using the long tail you made at cast-on, thread on needle and gather through all the bases of the petals, arranging them to lay neatly in a circle. Once gathered, make a few stitches across to bring petals together and secure.

Add some type of decorative center in middle to finish.
