107-C Easy Segmented Leaf

dyednwool

Updated: Jul 5, 2022

  • Very quick/easy leaf & stem with only 4 rows.

  • The center is openwork so work this fairly tightly with small hook - so the leaf has enough body.

ROW 1

Ch 8; join with slip st into 1st chain to form ring.

ROW 2 (OPENWORK SEGMENTS)

Ch 3; make 1 sc into ring.

Ch 5; make 1 dc into ring.

Ch 5; make 1 tr into ring.

Ch 5; make 1 dc into ring

Ch 3; make 1 sc into ring.

Join with slip st into first sc.

This will form 5 openwork loops - you'll be working the next row into these loops.

ROW 3

In first ch3 loop: Ch 1, 3 sc, 1 hdc

In next ch5 loop: 3 hdc, 4 dc

In next ch 5 loop: 1 hdc, 1 dc, 2 trc, 2dtrc. Ch 1. 2 dtrc, 2 trc, 1 dc, 1 hdc.

In next ch 5 loop: 4 dc, 3 hdc

In last ch3 loop: 1 hdc, 3 sc.

You've created 5 segments and are now at the base of the leaf. Slip st into stitch in base to center your work.

ROW 4 (EDGING)

You're now going to work a row of sc around the leaf to create an edging.

Ch 1.

In first segment: Skip 1st sc and work 1 sc and ch 1 in each sc.

In second segment: Work 1 sc and ch1 in each sc.

In top segment, work 1 sc (do not ch1 inbetween) until the ch 1 space at the top. In the ch1 space, work 1 dc, 1 trc, 1 dc. Then continue with edging.

In last 2 segments, work 1 sc and ch 1 in each sc.

You'll be at the base of the leaf.

STEM

Now ch 11; work 1 dc into 2nd loop from hook.

Then slip st into each chain down to the base.

Sl st into base of leaf to secure. Fasten off.

Weave in loose threads to finish.
