MATERIALS:

  • 2 pieces of felt (one or two colors)

  • flower template

  • yarn

  • yarn needle

  • poly-fil or batting for stuffing (optional)

STEP 1

Cut 2 large flower shapes from the felt, using the template. They may be the same or different colors. (One will be the front, one will be the back).

If you don't have the template, just make your own 5-6 petal flower shape about 6-8" wide.

STEP 2

Cut one 3" circle and one 1-1/2" circle of felt. Use different colors - these will be the center of the flower.

STEP 3

Thread the yarn needle with yarn and stitch the 1-1/2" circle to the 3" circle, using a cross 'X' stitch.

STEP 4

Place the circles in the center of one flower and sew a running stitch to attach it.

STEP 5

Place the front flower (with the center sewn on) on top of the back flower.

If using batting - place a small piece of batting between the center of the flower layers and sew a running stitch completely around the edges of the flower to attach the two layers.

If using poly-fil stuffing - sew about 3/4 around, stuff it with just a small amount of the poly-fil and finish sewing shut. You want it just slightly puffy.

MESSAGE (optional)

If you want, write a message on a slip of paper and sew inside the flower layers.

STEP 6 (optional)

Cut 4 pieces of 8" yarn and attach to the back so they can be used to tie the flower to the banner.
